Japan Summer 2024

My family of 4 journeyed to Japan for 14 days. It was our first time to Japan as a family and to say we left the same is an understatement. Our experience is so much more than I could of hoped for.

After much research I decided in November 2023 to book tour with G Adventures.

We started in Osaka for 3 nights then made our way with our tour group to Koyasan. It was enhanced by our over night stay in the temple and meeting the monks. The meals served were excellent and the meditation time on the morning of our departure was lovely. As we made our way to Hiroshima, Keiko (our tour guide) lead us with ease and directness through all the modes of public transportation. Our family enjoyed the public transportation and the adventure of it. Was it a lot of walking and getting from A to B yes but we did not mind it.

Hiroshima peace memorial was very educational and impactful. My 17- and 18-year-old read everything and absorbed all the aspects of the museum. We made origami cranes the night before as a group and placed all of ours at the memorial dedication area.

Miyajima Island was a lovely day trip. We enjoyed walking around the village, shopping, petting the deer, and partaking in the tea ceremony and my daughter and I dress in traditional kimono’s. We enjoyed Kyoto and loved all the shopping and exploring. We finished in Tokyo for 4 nights. Yes the city was very large we did as much as we could in the days we were there. The kids loved the Team Labs experience and the 2 observation decks we visited.

I highly recommend Japan. I am now booking many clients to Japan this coming spring by cruise and land.

Rhone River on the AmaKristina 2024 Spring

Sara’s solo trip to seminar with AMA Waterways in France.

This trip was hosted by AmaWaterways. This was the first time I traveled solo to Europe since I was 20 years old. Times have changed. It was a great perspective to experience as I have many solo traveler clients. It gave me the opportunity to see the trip from their perspective. I did all my best research to know what to expect at every transition. I arranged for transfer from airport to ship and ship to hotel. I would of provided all these details to a client to minimize nervousness and to know what to expect. The AmaKristina is a beautiful ship. Lyon is the 2nd biggest city in France and so beautiful. I enjoyed a city bike ride. On the 2nd day we had free time to explore the city. The ship was right in town so easy walk to all the sights. Arles was our last stop and I loved loved the city. Such a cute town on the riverside. I am a big Van Gogh fan so went to all the sights and learned all I could where Vicent lived, painted, was hospitalized. There are so many amazing details about this itinerary I highly recommend traveling this part of France. The wine was sublime as well.

Greece 2023 Spring

My son Caden with his grandparents.

Caden is my youngest and this was the 3rd trip with me, the grandparents and one of my kids. Caden had picked Greece as he loves Greek mythology. We hired a driver who drove us around the whole country as we explored the ancient cities, Olympic sites and temples. It was full of so much history and culture. Meteora, Delphi and Athens were spectacular. Truly a great generational trip.

Mekong River on the AmaDara 2023 Fall

Sara with her mom Jean Vietnam & Cambodia.

This was a trip hosted by AmaWaterways. It was truly an experience with each day full of new sights, sounds, smells and emotional experiences. We flew as a group of 25 from SFO to Saigon direct.  We made our way to the ship AmaDara that was awaiting us on the Mekong. The ship was beautiful and the crew so welcoming. Each days was full of adventurous tours full of beauty. The most memorable day was our stop at Silk Island. We were given a tour of a school Ama sponsors. The children sang to us and we learned about their lessons and how the island was trying hard to keep kids in school past the age of 12, to finish their studies. We all donated school supplies. As we then continued our journey around the island we learned of silk making. The whole trip was full of experiences I will never forget. I highly recommend this trip and touring this part of the world.

Europe 2023 Summer

Werner Family & meeting cousins in Portugal.

We had our second family trip to Europe. This time we spent over 2 weeks in London, Portugal and Amsterdam. The 5 of us had a wonderful time managing the London tube, driving the roads of Portugal and walk the streets of Amsterdam. Our teenage kids fell in love with London and Amsterdam. I think they have gotten the love of European cities from me. So many great memories soaking in the family time.
